Flying Lessons

If you know someone who is no longer satisfied behind the wheel of a car, or has always fancied knowing what it is like to fly a plane, or someone who just wants to experience something new; then treat them to a fabulous flying lesson! You could help someone discover a new hobby, for those aspiring pilots out there, choose a private pilot licence starter course. Soar over fantastic landscapes 2,000 ft above the ground. If you think you get freedom once out on the open roads, imagine what it would be like in the open air! No road rage, traffic jams or busy roads in sight! Choose from various locations throughout the UK, various 2-seater and 4-seater planes and various durations, from 20 minutes upwards.

All these activities begin with a safety brief and welcome introductions to the instructors, which last depending on location. These are normally class briefs and other participants may be present on the day, during your flight however only you and your qualified pilot will be present.

Following this, you will lead out to the plane by your instructor who will give you a further briefing on the controls once seated within the cockpit. The instructor will control take-off and landing, you will then be allowed the opportunity to fly the aircraft only once a safe height has been reached. During your lesson, your tuition will depend on the level of course chosen and the allocated flight times however expect lessons in handling, manoeuvring, ascending and descending. Headphones are normally provided for communication between your instructor and air traffic control on the ground.

Duration

Your flight time will begin from take-off to landing and is dependent on package purchased. Expect to spend an additional hour at the venue to include pre and post flight briefs.

Are spectators welcome

There are normally no restrictions on spectators at any of the venues however they may not be allowed to join the pre and post flight briefings.

Are these experiences weather dependent?

Yes. You are advised to ring your venue on the morning of your activity to check on the weather. If conditions are not suitable, your experience will be rearranged.

Other information

No experience is necessary for these flying lessons. There are various packages available from taster sessions to intensive sessions. There are even options to fly both an airplane and a helicopter. All minutes spent in the air can be registered in your own log book and be put towards a professional pilot licence (requires thirty-five dual control flying hours and ten solo control flying hours).
