Junior Driving

Most of us could not wait to be old enough to learn to drive, let alone enjoy the feeling of hitting top speeds in a high performance sports car listening to the engine purrrr as it pulls away! Put the Xbox and Playstation away and let your child get outdoors to experience driving for real! They may not have a licence, nonetheless with an expert instructor at their side they can still get behind the wheel of a high performance sports car, enjoy the thrills and sharp corners that come with rally driving experiences, or even have a go at off road driving! With a junior driving experience, you are able to give teens the chance to experience the adrenaline thrills that only us adults thought we could enjoy.

If your child has ever asked if he can have a go at driving your car, chances are you have said no! Remove the guilt by treating them to a kids diving experience instead, just be prepared to put up who is the better driver arguments that will follow after!

Each session will begin with the normal class safety briefing with other participants present, this normally covers advice on safety, handling techniques, driving theory and an overview of the day.

Next up depending on package and venue, a professional driver might take up to four kids at a time on a familiarisation lap around the circuit showing them the layout and thus to help prepare them.

Next up it will be time for your child to jump behind the wheel, and with a qualified instructor sitting next to them, enjoy a specified number of jumps around the chosen circuit. There is no pressure to drive fast, and all vehicles are modified and include dual brakes so the instructor can remain in control. These experiences are not only designed to be fun but also awarding, and at the same time giving youngsters a head start and more confidence behind the wheel for later on in life.

At the end of the activity, it is common for all young drivers to receive a certificate presentation to take home and show off to family and friends!

The above schedule is the normal format for all young driver experiences including supercar, rally and off road driving.

The below driving activities are available are numerous locations throughout the country, including the more famous venues such as Rockingham in Northamptonshire, Lancashire’s Three Sisters, and Kent’s Brand Hatch.

Duration

Drive time varies depending on package and venue chosen (length of circuit, number of laps). You should expect to spend up to two hours at the venue to allow for pre and post driving briefs, certificate presentations and any demonstration laps. There will some period of waiting as your child will be waiting their turn with other paying guests (numbers may vary on the day).

Are spectators welcome

Spectators are welcome on site and most venues have designated areas to watch and enjoy the action. Parents or a legal guardian must accompany children at all times except when in the vehicles. Most venues have on site facilities.

Are these experiences weather dependent?

In extreme weather conditions, cancellation is possible. If any doubt we recommend ringing the venue the day or morning prior to the event.

Other information

The minimum age for the below young driving experiences is either eleven or twelve years of age, and maximum age is sixteen to seventeen years. Please check before purchasing at the retailer.

Parents or guardians must be present on site during the activity and may have to sign an indemnity form for their child to participate. Proof of your child’s age will need to be provided on the day along with booking confirmation and voucher.

Some of the activities may only be available during weekdays. Minimum and maximum height restrictions may apply.

All supercar events will be just your child and the instructor in the vehicle. During demonstration laps and off road driving experiences other paying guests may be present in the vehicle.
